Meet the Instructors
Morag Gurnsey -
Founder & Pilates Instructor (Stott Level 1 and 2) Morag's love of pilates stemmed from using mindful pilates movement to heal from her own injuries. It became an integral part of her movement & wellbeing, and she's now excited to guide her clients to experience the same transformation she did. The Pilates Room was founded in 2017 with Morag offering one-on-one classes our of her family home (in the now Osteopathy Room). Due to the studio's success, she has since expanded the studio in 2020 to the outside studio 'The Pilates Room' where Morag continues to offer both one-on-one and group pilates classes. |
Bonnie O'Riley -
Stott Pilates Matwork Instructor, Certified Total Barre Instructor, Stott Pilates Reformer Instructor (Level 1 & Level 2) I was first introduced to Pilates 15 years ago after I suffered a lower back injury and was recommended Pilates as apart of my rehabilitation and I never stopped! What I was unaware of at the time, was that I had Scoliosis. The doctor told me to thank my dedication to Pilates for unknowingly saving my back from needing surgery, and that Pilates would be the key to my life-long pain management and maintenance of my spine. I became a Stott Pilates Trained Matwork Instructor and Certified Total Barre Instructor in 2015 where I studied at Essential and Intermediate level (Level 1) and Advanced level (Level 2). In 2020 I graduated from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition. I am hugely passionate about understanding and training the human body. I am consistently amazed how Pilates challenges, changes and protects the body and I feel so lucky to assist other people on their Pilates journey. |
Sarah Gurnsey -
Stott Pilates Reformer Instructor (Level 1 & Level 2) After years of being her mum's (Morag Gurnsey) test dummy for workouts and new class types, Sarah fell in love with Reformer Pilates and it makes her feel. She's completed her Intensive Reformer Pilates training in August of 2022, and is now excited to bring her love of pilates to the growing clientele at The Pilates Room. A business student and freelancer by day, pilates instructor by night, Sarah loves how pilates can bring movement to our typically sedentary lifestyles. She has a special interest in Women's Wellness - having used Pilates to manage her Endometriosis and chronic pain. She's excited to bring a fun, engaging and relaxing environment to her classes. |
